Travel Immunisations

The practice nurses will advise and arrange for foreign travel immunisations. There is a real risk of catching a number of serious diseases, even in the Mediterranean so check with the surgery in plenty of time before you travel to ensure you are protected.

Non-urgent advice: Notice

Please note that not all travel vaccinations are available on the NHS and you may have to pay.  Payment will be collected at Reception BEFORE you receive the vaccination and you will be given a receipt to hand to the nurse. Please ask when booking for current charges.

There is information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

Europe Europe & RussiaNorth America North America
Central America Central Americaindia South America
egypt Carribeanlithuania Africa
bulgaria Middle Eastpoland Central Asia
china East Asiachina Australasia and Pacific

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible – at least 6 weeks before you travel – as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.

This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
